HISTORY OF MAHJONG
Mahjong is a tile-based game that was developed in 19th century China. It spread throughout the world with it’s popularity in the 20’s, when unique collections started becoming signs of social status. In 1937, the National Mah Jongg League was formed by Jewish American women. in an attempt to standardize the rules of the game. These women spread the game, thus becoming deeply ingrained in the culture of many Jewish families to this day.
